How to Create a Winning Logo

Your logo is the first visual representation of your business that customers will see and hopefully something they will remember, for all the right reasons!

A successful logo not only gets a message across, it also portrays a strong image of your brand – it is the face of your business. How many times have you visited a website that’s poorly designed and looks dated, only to click off it straight away? Your logo could be giving the same impression.

To give you a hand with your logo design, here are our top three tips to ensure your business logo is a winner…

1. Keep it Simple

We’re a firm believer that a logo should be kept as simple as possible. Consider all the different places your logo could appear, from business cards, to folders, vehicles and even buildings. When you start considering all these different mediums you can appreciate the thought process which needs to be applied. Your logo may be readable at 3cm but how will it look at 10 meters wide? For a versatile logo, it’s always best to go back to basics.

2. Colour

Colour palette can be equally as important to the success of a logo. Different colours can help customers identify your position within the market. Are you aiming for the ‘super elite’ or are you marketing a budget product? Does it distinguish you as a trustworthy brand or as a company with prestige? All things to consider.

3. Relevance

One of the most interesting points is how often people assume that their logo must be relevant to the service that they offer. That’s not true! Whether you sell cars or handbags, you don’t need to have the product in the logo. Look at IBM, Apple, Coca-Cola, and McDonalds – all examples of great logo designs with absolutely no reference to the products they sell. Your logo is the identity of your business and can be anything you wish.
