We’re Taking on Our Own Technical Challenge with Sugar & Crumbs

There’s nothing the team at Platform81 love more than baked goods, so when we were approached by local Stockport business, Sugar and Crumbs, we were delighted at the prospect of working with them.

Account Director, Amanda explained, “I was already aware of Sugar and Crumbs, as I had met them whilst working for another client at a Cake exhibition whilst they were still in their infancy. You don’t forget Banana Split and Pina Colada flavoured icing in a hurry!”

After growing from strength to strength, Sugar and Crumbs have become a household name amongst avid home bakers. Selling everything from their own branded icing sugars to icing nozzles and cake decorating supplies they’re the one stop shop for anyone looking for any cake decorating related.

With an ecommerce site that has had to grow as rapidly as the business has, SEO had been put on the back burner as sales through other more immediate channels were prioritised. Owner John McFarland knew that to see the continued growth they had planned for the business, the SEO had to be brought up to scratch.

Tom, Senior SEO Executive said, “From initial investigation we knew the site required targeted on-page optimisation amongst other technical issues we have since identified.” Therefore, we’re planning to complete a full technical audit of the website, before implementing our recommendations over a 12 month period.

After fixing all technical issues across the site our objectives will be to increase organic traffic volume to the website and in turn the conversion rate. We’ll be working to improve key on-page elements and implementing schema mark-ups across the site. “The site is huge, and this will probably take quite a few months to get everything up to standard but we’re looking forward to seeing the impact our changes will have on the business.”
